SERVICES

Absolute Science provides chemical and physical tests on a wide variety of specialty chemicals and raw materials to support formulation development, production, and vendor qualification.

In addition, we perform more specialized procedures or undertake complex studies using a variety of analytical techniques including GC, HPLC, GC/MS, ICP-OES and AAS.

We are also capable of combining these techniques to provide novel approaches in solving problems with formulation development, production and manufacturing.

The services of Absolute Science include the following; analytical capabilities, pesticide residue analysis, 5 batch analysis, elemental analysis, customised testing.

ANALYTICAL CAPABILITIES

Absolute Science has extensive experience using a variety of instrumentation to identify, quantify and do all quality control checks as required by the client:

GC-MS: Gas chromatography with mass spectrometer detection. Used for low level detection of compounds in complex mixtures like pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables or for the detection of contaminants in technical products. With this technique, detected compounds can also be positively identified, by comparing their mass spectra to spectra in available libraries.

HPLC: High performance liquid chromatography is used to quantify the active ingredients in formulation samples for quality control and registration purposes.

ICP-OES:  Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission

Spectrometry is a trace-level, elemental analysis technique that uses the emission spectra of a sample to identify, and quantify the elements present.

GC with FID: Gas chromatography with flame ionization detector is used for the determination of volatile active ingredients in formulation samples.

AAS: Atomic absorption spectrometry is used to determine metals compounds in formulation samples. It is also used to determine heavy metal contaminants in raw materials e.g. cadmium content in zinc oxide

We also have all the equipment (particle size analyzer, pH meter and viscosity meter) needed for stability testing of formulations for registration purposes as well as for routine quality control testing.

5 BATCH AND LIST II ANALYSIS

Absolute Science undertakes testing of physical properties of routine and QC samples which include the following: pH, conductivity, particle size analysis, wet sieve, viscosity, density and specific gravity.

We also undertake all tests required for registration purposes for the Registrar, Act 36 of 1947 (CIPAC methods).

METAL ANALYSIS

Absolute Science undertakes elemental analysis with Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS) or Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES) in a wide variety of raw materials and finished products. CUSTOMISED TESTING
